Prequalification Applications Submitted for The Yangon Expressway Project

November 28, 2018

A total of 12 prequalification applications have been received by the Ministry of Construction on 13 November 2018 for the first phase of the Yangon Elevated Expressway project. As expected, and given the size of the project, most of the applicants are consortia. Only French construction company Vinci Highways, Chinese companies China Communications Construction Company Ltd and Power Construction Corporation of China and Filipina company Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation submitted sole bids.

Three of the consortia include Myanmar companies, namely Shwe Taung Expressways Co., Ltd., Myanmar License Contractors Public Co. and Denso.

The Ministry of Construction is currently reviewing the applications in line with the criteria set out in the request for qualification and is expected to announce the list of prequalified bidders shortly.

VDB Loi advises the International Finance Corporation as local counsel for this project.
