Pilot Period of Online Arrival-Departure Registration for Foreigners
August 26, 2025On 15 August 2025, the Department of Immigration of the Lao PDR issued the Notice No. 3291 to announce a pilot program allowing foreign travelers to register their entry and exit online. This digital system is designed to make travel easier, reduce administrative burdens, and strengthen border security. The pilot period will commence on 1 September 2025, limited to selected entry points, before expanding to a nationwide rollout with full implementation in early 2026.
Starting 1 September 2025, all non-Lao nationals entering into the Lao PDR by air or land at the following international checkpoints must complete the Laos immigration arrival card online within three days before arrival via https://immigration.gov.la/en/registration/arrival/arrival-info:
- Wattay International Airport
- Luang Prabang International Airport
- Pakse International Airport
- Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge I
After completing the online Laos immigration arrival card, foreign travelers will receive an QR Code to show the immigration officer for inspection and confirmation, and they are not required to fill out the arrival–departure declaration form.
