Edwin Vanderbruggen comments on Myanmar in official Dutch news broadcast

December 20, 2012

VDB Loi’s resident partner in Yangon, Edwin Vanderbruggen was interviewed by the NOS Journaal, the official news broadcast of The Netherlands. When asked what Edwin advises foreign investors that visit Myanmar to explore business opportunities, Edwin stated “I always tell them the same thing. Go home, pack up, and move to Myanmar because this is a once-in a life time opportunity. Myanmar is the last frontier. 60 Million consumers opening up at once that is an opportunity which is unlikely to occur again. Myanmar is a game-changer for Southeast Asia”.

The interview was aired on 19 December 2012 in the state news broadcast. A longer version was broadcasted through the NOS radio channels. The interview coincided with the visit of a Netherlands trade delegation headed by H.E. Simon Smits, Vice-Minister of Foreign Trade of The Netherlands to Myanmar, and H.E. Joan Boer, Ambassador of The Netherlands to Burma/Myanmar. The delegation was briefed on legal and tax issues related to foreign investment by VDB Loi on 12 December 2012.
